REAL MUSIC AS REFERENCE
Some would argue that this is just a matter of taste. I don’t think so! I lived in the middle of Copenhagen at that time. I had easy access to all the important concert halls, jazz clubs and rock clubs. In other words my reference was (and still is) live music. In The Tivoli Concert hall, row 11, mid (by far the best position in that specific hall). At the Jazz house Montmartre, 3 metres away from Niels Henning Ørsted or Dexter Gordon or Stan Getz or close to the mixer at many of the rock venues going on. I would argue that with live music as my reference, I can get closer to perfection by measuring, listening, measuring, listen, etc. until the sound is exactly right. My first commercial speaker, the Trapez, received excellent reviews and was an instant commercial success for exactly these reasons.
